02/04/2011
The New National Register of Public Service Interpreters, representing 2,200 Public Service Interpreters in the UK, came into existence on 1 April 2011
On 1 April 2011, a new regulatory body, the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI), came into existence. In accordance with the wishes of RPSIs, as expressed in a 2009 survey, the new NRPSI will perform a solely regulatory function and will not be involved in work matching. It will therefore have no subscribers.
The majority of the 2,200 RPSIs gave their consent for their data to be transferred to the new regulatory body, and their details are freely available from the NRPSI website, at www.nrpsi.co.uk.
The Board of the NRPSI has been announced as follows:
Chair: Ted Sangster.
Lay Members: Ann Mealor, Angela Ringguth, Steven Thacker.
Practitioner Members: Janina Nowacka, Lalia Pessoa-White, Hassan Sobati.
